Throughout the academic year, the Learning Services Coordinator plays a key role in supporting both students and teachers within the Learning Services Centre (LSC), helping them meet curricular expectations. Their responsibilities include creating and maintaining a welcoming and efficient environment where students can work or complete assessments under supervision. The Coordinator's tasks vary depending on the individual learning needs of students, which may involve assisting with assignments, fostering personal organization, and providing targeted academic support. Additionally, the Coordinator contributes to the planning and organization of the Summer Academy program. During the summer, they work closely with the Director, monitoring and actioning any requests from parents, students or teachers.
What You’ll Do:
- Supports and supervises students attending the Learning Services Centre (LSC) (Grades 7-12).
- Collaborate with Learning Service Specialists to provide student support in the areas of organisation and executive functioning.
- Supervises placement assessments (math, english) for incoming students before school start up
- Leads the PSAT testing cycle of organising logistics and timeline; registration; student information session; test day; and feedback session.
- Ensures attendance during supervision periods and reports student absences to teachers and Middle School or Senior School attendance.
- Sets-up and supervises assessment for students on Individual Education Plans (IEPs) as well as those receiving accommodations due to mental health/health or high performance athlete designation.
- Coordination of accommodated final exams and summatives in May/June (room booking, scheduling, tracking, supervision etc.)
- Schedules conferences, manages LSC email and calendar, maintains internal LSC tracking information documents.
- Provides administrative support to help to manage, plan and proctor standardised tests.
- Supports the Director of Summer Programs in the planning and communication around registration for Summer Academy and the Vice Principal, Student Success for the Skills week camps in August.
- Prepares information to be shared with teachers including class lists, medical lists and name tags etc.
- Is present and working during Summer Academy to support the Director (all of July for credit courses and a week in August for skills camps)
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s degree or College diploma preferably with a background in special education or psychology
- Experience working with adolescents, ideally in an educational setting, individual tutoring and/or providing additional academic support
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team player
- Ability to multitask and prioritise to meet the needs of students in an equitable manner
- Flexibility; able to roll with unexpected situations and sudden changes to plans
- Willingness to participate in co-curricular activities
- Demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment
- Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
