In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance will be calculated on an hourly basis and paid per pay period for all Employer-paid hours at the Basic Rate of Pay, exclusive of overtime. This allowance is non-pensionable.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:Phlebotomy experience is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. Excellent communication skills both written and oral are required. Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. Must be able to represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner. The primary responsibilities of the Laboratory Assistant I include performing all aspects of the pre-analytical path of workflow including phlebotomy for adults, children and infants using both macro and micro techniques, accessioning patient specimens, troubleshooting problem specimens, performing ECGs, and reception duties. The successful candidate will provide support to the lab by collecting and processing quality specimens for analysis.
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with EPIC Beaker LIS.
