We are a growing Managing General Agent (MGA) currently seeking a Junior Transportation Underwriter to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 1+ year of commercial auto underwriting experience—especially in fleet transportation—or a recent graduate of an insurance program ready to launch their career in a supportive and collaborative environment.
About the Role
As a Junior Underwriter, you'll play a key role in supporting the profitability and growth of our Transportation book. This position involves underwriting new business, processing endorsements and renewals, reviewing claims, and closely collaborating with brokers and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Duties:
- Underwriting mid-term changes and endorsements
- Following up on outstanding information and subjectivities
- Responding to broker inquiries and providing guidance
- Preparing renewals
- Handling premium financing inquiries and cancellations
- Adhering to underwriting guidelines, workflows, and compliance standards
- Building strong broker relationships
- Maintaining client confidentiality
Secondary Duties:
- Supporting cross-selling and upselling efforts
- Assisting finance, claims, and operations teams as needed
- Providing backup for Task Manager or niche teams
- Updating claims records and tracking service levels
What You Bring
- Experience in commercial auto underwriting (fleet transportation preferred) or a recent insurance graduate
- Strong communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Detail-oriented and team-focused
- Open to coaching and continuous improvement
