The Bail Verification and Supervision Program is hiring a Judicial Support Navigator for the Peel region. The position is an 8 month contract role, 35 hours/week, with a potential start date of August 18th, 2025.


The primary role of the Judicial Support Navigator is to use their knowledge of the legal system to guide individuals through the complexities of the Criminal Justice System in the region of Peel. This position is responsible for using a trauma-informed approach to provide information and support and make necessary referrals to help clients access resources and services related to legal processes. The Judicial support Navigator will act as an advocate and liaison on behalf of the client with other service providers and legal professionals.


Duties/Responsibilities/Procedures


Client Support/ Case Management:
  • Support and navigate clients through the justice system
  • Advocate for clients and attend both court and legal appointments, as needed
  • Assist clients with completing and filing legal documents, as needed
  • Connect clients to legal resources such as counseling, and external community services such as Legal Aid
  • Ensure all interactions are client centered and trauma-informed, providing emotional support and sensitivity to each client’s unique journey
  • Maintain a minimum caseload of clients under supervision, including those who are self-referred or as directed through the Bail Verification and Supervision Program
  • Identify needs requiring external interventions and make appropriate referrals I where needed

Documentation/Administrative:
  • Ensure case management practices, as outlined in Minimum Standards, are followed, including the completion and accurate recording of all documentation.
  • Maintain client files in a timely and efficient manner, including assessments, notes, reports, and statistical information
  • Compile and submit monthly statistical data to the agency
  • Provide comprehensive reports to management as required
  • Maintain strong working relationships with all existing collateral agencies and organizations.

  • Maintain workplace confidentiality and work within the policies and procedures as outlined in program and policy manuals, while respecting the mission, vision, and principles of the agency
  • Demonstrate integrity and respect as it applies to the role as a representative of the agency
  • Work in a spirit of congeniality with all staff
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of resources/services available in the community which could be of assistance to the clients and staff
  • Ability to comply with deadlines as directed by management
  • Participate in team meetings and other committees as needed
  • Participate in relevant training opportunities to keep skills and frame of reference current/effective
  • Represent the agency at community events, public speaking engagements, etc. at the direction of management

Personal Skills/Attributes required for the position:
  • Completion of post-secondary education in a related field
  • A minimum of 2 years of case management experience preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with computer literacy
  • Reliable judgment and ability to maintain professional boundaries when working with clients and service providers.
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and crisis prevention/intervention skills are an asset
  • Understanding of and commitment to working within a framework of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ownership of a vehicle is required due to the necessity of working at multiple locations
  • CPIC & Vulnerable Sector clearance will be required
