Position purpose:

The successful candidate will be accountable for driving continuous quality improvement across all Faculty of Engineering programs by leading the complete accreditation process for the Faculty and by recommending evidence-based strategies on initiatives and projects to improve the Faculty’s programs and reputation. A primary focus of the position will be to assure in each of the Faculty’s undergraduate programs an effective Graduate Attribute and Continual Improvement Process (GACIP) - which is founded on an ongoing procedure of data collection, analysis and recommended program modifications – and manage implementation at the graduate for non-engineering (undergraduate and graduate levels) programs for the expectations of the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance (OUCQA) level.

In this role, your responsibilities will include:

1. Leads the complete process of the Faculty’s accreditation and Institutional Quality Assurance Process (IQAP) maintenance by:

a) engaging with internal and external stakeholders (accrediting bodies, vice-deans, program directors, the Office of Quality Assurance (OQA), the programs’ executive administrators, etc.) while overseeing the operational workflow of the accreditation processes.

b) producing the accreditation reports and cyclical review documents for internal consensus, as directed by the Vice-Dean, Programs.

c) authenticating data submitted by programs to ensure accuracy, coherence and consistency of the information within the various programs’ GACIP; and

d) overseeing on-site visits by representatives of the accrediting bodies and external visitors to secure accreditation and/or compliance to OUCQA for the Faculty’s programs.

2. Leads the Faculty’s adherence to regulatory and accrediting body requirements to maintain program accreditation. , Provides expert advice to all stakeholders in the interpretation and the application of policies, procedures and processes related to the requirements of the faculty’s accrediting bodies and of OUCQA.

3. Provides expert advice to various stakeholders within the University (such as the Engineering Undergraduate and Graduate offices, the undergraduate offices of those Faculties contributing through teaching to Engineering programs, Administrative Services, the Morisset Library, the Research Office, the Student Services Centre, the Institutional Research and Planning Office and Financial Services) with the objective to consolidate information required for internal monitoring and reporting as part of the Engineering accreditation process.

4. Advises senior management, academic leaders and other internal stakeholders on quality assurance and ensures that the the GACIP platform is robust and works to increase the system’s functionality and accuracy by modifying existing templates and reports as needed and by designing, testing and rolling out new templates and reports.

5. Manages the logistics and guides the creation, implementation and operation of the various Engineering programs’ continual improvement processes, including the design and implementation of annual departmental-level program reviews and assessments involving students, alumni, employers and other external stakeholders.

6. Represents the Faculty at various departments’ curriculum committees in making evidence-based decisions concerning administrative and program improvements, as deemed appropriate.

7. Determines best practices for the continuous flow of information that assures accuracy and internal consistency in the information presented to the province and to the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) to ensure that the various programs accurately represent themselves and meet the information standards set by the bodies in question.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in related field
  • Experience as a data analyst, ideally with outcomes-based accreditation procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer systems, database design, data analysis, and visualization
  • Experience in resolving varied complex problems independently and on an ongoing and timely basis.
  • Ability to compile and analyze statistical data to produce complex reports.
  • Demonstrated ability in communicating information and ideas in verbal and written form.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and work with colleagues at various levels, including senior management.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to prioritize and to organize work schedules to meet firm deadlines.
  • P.Eng. status from a Canadian licensing jurisdiction considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of advanced machine learning techniques considered an asset.
  • Teaching experience in engineering at a university level is considered an asset.
  • Bilingualism – French and English (oral and written).
