Position Summary
The School of Health and Wellness is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our faculty team. This role offers a unique opportunity to augment your Healthcare Aide clinical expertise with valuable teaching skills, utilizing the latest technologies in education. As a faculty member, you will be responsible for providing instruction to learners, evaluating their progress, designing and developing curriculum and instructional materials, and supporting students in achieving the learning outcomes of their courses and programs.
This position requires a strong commitment to effective teaching and the ability to engage students across a broad range of delivery methods, including face-to-face instruction, online learning, blended formats, synchronous delivery through Microsoft Teams, and workplace-based teaching. Faculty are expected to provide high-quality instruction, create lesson plans, select strategies tailored to learner needs, evaluate performance, and maintain accurate records. You will play an important role in fostering a positive learning experience by supporting learners with academic, performance, and conduct issues, ensuring that individualized accommodations are met, and connecting students with additional institutional supports when necessary. Participation in departmental and college events that promote learner success, such as orientations and graduations, is also an integral part of this role.
Beyond teaching, faculty members contribute to building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring curriculum remains current with best practices, supporting program articulation and transfer activities, and participating in Advisory Committees and community engagement. You will also help represent the program at recruitment events and maintain professional connections with employers of Health Care Aides to support the success of graduates.
To be successful in this role, you must hold a Practical Nurse Diploma, a current unrestricted CLPNA or CARNA practice permit, CPR (Health Care Provider Level) certification, up-to-date immunizations, N95 mask fitting, and a clear Police Information Check with a vulnerable sector search. A minimum of four years’ nursing experience working directly with Health Care Aides is required. Additionally, you must meet all government Health Care Aide facilitator requirements and be able to work to the full scope of practice. Recent experience in teaching the Health Care Aide curriculum is considered an asset, and an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
If your education was received internationally we will require you provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
