Job Duties
- Provide attentive care for three young children, including one child diagnosed with severe autism
- Support and engage the child with autism through structured routines, calm communication, and sensory-friendly activities
- Assist with the care of two other children and a newborn (expected) as needed
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals while respecting the family’s Muslim dietary practices (Halal)
- Maintain a safe, caring, and inclusive household environment aligned with Islamic family values
- Assist children with personal hygiene, daily routines, and social development
- Organize age-appropriate activities including play, learning, and outdoor time
- Light housekeeping and laundry related to child care
- Accompany children to appointments, school, or community activities if required
Requirements
- Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of full-time child care experience (experience with children with special needs, particularly autism, is strongly preferred)
- Patience, empathy, and ability to provide structured caregiving
- Must be able to communicate in English (French if required by province)
- Preference will be given to candidates who can also speak Hindku and/or Urdu for easier communication with children and family
- Knowledge of or willingness to adapt to Muslim household values and practices (e.g., halal food preparation, respect for religious customs)
- First Aid/CPR certification (asset, not mandatory)
Additional Information
- Optional accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis. Note: This is not a condition of employment.
- Employment is in a private household, and the caregiver will work unsupervised at times.
- Preference for candidates with special needs care experience and familiarity with Muslim household routines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00-$28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
