Position Description
Position: Turfcare Specialist I, Turfcare Foreman
Reports to: Master Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent’s

Objective: Mickelson National Golf Club is an exciting world class golf club located west of Calgary. We are hiring team members that can work full time until the end of October. Score Golf has recently awarded Mickelson National as a top 20 golf course in Canada. The championship design is by 6-time major winner and world golf hall of fame member Phil Mickelson. Mickelson National is designed to facilitate large volumes of spectators to potentially host professional golf tournaments such as the Canadian Open. Launchpad and one of the largest putting greens in Canada are among the state of the art golf amenities Mickelson has to offer along with the opening of our new Clubhouse in 2023. We are looking for new team members to join our championship team.
Turf Care Specialist, under the supervision of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent’s, Foreman, perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance, grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders mowers.
Meetings: Attend staff meetings as required.
Duties:
Planning and Administration
Report all findings of dry spots, disease, weeds, insects and any other course imperfections to the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent’s or Foreman.
Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, fairways, rough, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; edges cart paths, rakes, edges and maintains sand bunkers
Maintains bunkers.
Sets tee markers and location markers on tees and cups on greens according to daily rotation; removes debris; divots tees and repairs ball marks.
Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
Returns all equipment to the designated location in the maintenance facility once it has been thoroughly cleaned; fills out equipment check sheets; and carries out assigned daily duties in maintenance areas.
Waters and fertilizes tees, greens and fairways, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals.
Moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs.
Assists in carrying out project work.
Excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools.
Follows and is an active part of Occupational Health and Safety Programs and carries out safe working practices with all job assignments.
Ensure quality and attention to detail exists in all work performed (accurate, thorough and timely)
Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

Pay: $15.00-$21.00 per hour
