Earthbound Kids is a seasonal summer camp and tree farm with two locations serving children and youth ages 4-16. Our programs include summer camps, leadership programs, and outdoor education programs. The programs we offer have a strong emphasis on growing trees, sustainable farming and environmental education.
We are looking for a mature and conscientious Horticulturalists/Gardeners for our Stouffville Ontario location, for the 2025 season. The Gardeners will manage the planting, care and upkeep of our teaching gardens, perennial garden, and nursery. The position involves, working alongside our Arborist & Outdoor Education team to create safe, informative and meaningful learning experiences for school groups and campers.
The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, in a farm environment and sharing their passion and knowledge with people of all ages.
This is a unique experience as it combines growing, harvesting and preparing the freshest, healthiest ingredients for our camp meal plan. ills.
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of perennial, fruit and vegetable gardens weeding, pruning and dead heading, mulching and amending existing gardens
- Planting shrubs, perennials and annuals
- Maintenance of compost system
- Grass cutting and general maintenance around the garden areas to create a tidy, aesthetically pleasing site
- Diagnose problems, damage and disease in plants & trees
- Harvesting fruits and vegetables for our Camp Meal Plan
- Planning and preparation of simple recipes using food harvested from the garden
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Training and/or education in Horticulture, Agriculture, Arboriculture or related discipline
- Experience working with children and youth in a camp or recreational setting
- Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s Licence
- Previous experience in agricultural, gardening or landscaping position preferred
- Knowledge of garden care techniques including irrigation and plant maintenance
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools
- Food Handlers Certificate will be required
