Job Summary: Every day, Hope Mission provides meals and life-changing care to thousands of vulnerable men, women, youth, and children across Alberta. Our small (but mighty) internal fundraising agency helps fuel this work by producing a steady stream of high-impact creative fundraising campaigns that inspire donors and move their hearts towards generosity.
Right now, we’re looking to grow this team and hire someone who is highly creative, curious, and collaborative. If you’re passionate about storytelling, excited to learn about fundraising, and eager to produce sharp, results-driven creative that makes a direct impact on the lives of the hurting and hungry, then we want to hear from you.
About Our Team: The team you’ll be joining functions like a small, mission-driven creative agency. We manage the full lifecycle of donor-facing campaigns — from strategy and project planning to copywriting, design, digital deployment, and data reporting. Our work spans direct mail, email, digital ads, web, social, and more — all with a shared goal of inspiring generosity and advancing the mission of Hope Mission through clear, compelling, and results-oriented storytelling and campaign production.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Copywriting and Storytelling: Good storytelling is at the heart of everything we do on our team. In this role, you’ll use these stories of life-change alongside fundraising best practices to craft clear, compelling copy for direct mail campaigns, emails, ads, videos, and more.
- Campaign Shaping: Under the guidance and mentorship of the Development Manager, you’ll learn to help shape both existing and new fundraising campaigns, all within a data-driven framework that harnesses creativity for good, maximizing positive impact on those we serve every day at Hope Mission.
- Creative Asset Development: Whether your background is primarily in writing, design, photography, coding, or another creative discipline, we’re looking for someone with depth in one area and the willingness to grow in others. Your work will help capture and share real stories of transformation at Hope Mission through visual, words, and media that inspire generosity.
- Creative Collaboration: Partner with on‑site teammates as well as external contractors, both providing and receiving direction and feedback to continuously sharpen the work.
- Growth and Innovation: You’ll be encouraged to stay curious and explore new tools, platforms, and creative approaches. Whether it’s learning a new design skill, experimenting with emerging technology, or testing fresh messaging ideas, you’ll get the opportunity to help shape the future of Hope Mission’s fundraising — all while staying rooted in the insights and strategies that have proven effective with our donors over the decades.
Minimum Qualifications & Skills:
- Post-secondary education in any discipline. Our team has included creatives with backgrounds in theology, history, music, English, radio, marketing, and more. What matters most is how your education has shaped your thinking, storytelling, and approach to creative problem-solving.
- Experience in a creative role is an asset—especially in nonprofit, fundraising, or marketing contexts—but not required. We’re open to emerging creatives with a deep curiosity and willingness to learn.
- Strong storytelling instincts, with a knack for identifying and shaping narratives that emotionally resonate with donors and bring our mission to life.
- An eye for design, even if it’s not your core discipline. You understand how visual elements contribute to effective storytelling and can evaluate creative materials for cohesion and emotional impact.
- Project management ability, with the organizational skills to juggle multiple creative projects, hit deadlines, and stay adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Versatility and a growth mindset. You bring depth in at least one creative area (e.g. writing, design, photography, etc.) and are open to learning new tools, skills, and formats as the work requires.
- Results-focused and humble. We value people who take ownership of their work, care about outcomes, and approach feedback and challenges with humility and a desire to grow.
- Alignment with the mission. We're a team that deeply believes in the work of Hope Mission, rooted in the life-changing gospel of Jesus Christ, and we’re looking for someone who shares that passion and purpose to make an impact for the Kingdom.
Other Requirements:
