Position Summary
The Front Bakery Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in ensuring a welcoming, efficient, and high-quality customer experience at our bakery counter. You’ll support the Bakery Manager in overseeing daily operations, leading a front-of-house team, maintaining outstanding product displays, and ensuring that our bakery remains a highlight of the Market Fresh experience.
Job Structure
This is a full-time, hourly position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual is at 4%. Health insurance plan is included and life insurance benefits are available after 6-months of full-time employment.
Responsibilities
Customer Experience:
- Deliver warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service to every customer.
- Educate guests about our scratch-made bakery items, daily specials, and custom offerings.
- Ensure the bakery counter maintains an inviting, well-organized, and visually stunning appearance.
- Handle customer concerns with professionalism and urgency.
Team Leadership:
- Support training, coaching, and scheduling of front bakery team members.
- Promote a positive, collaborative work environment.
- Step in as lead when the Bakery Manager is off-site or unavailable.
Operations & Merchandising:
- Ensure consistent product rotation and freshness throughout the day.
- Coordinate with bakers and kitchen staff to ensure accurate inventory and stock levels.
- Assist with opening/closing duties.
- Help execute seasonal and promotional displays that showcase our bakery’s craftsmanship.
Food Safety & Compliance:
- Monitor sanitation and safety standards in the front bakery area.
- Ensure all team members follow proper food handling procedures.
- Maintain compliance with local health codes and internal safety policies.
Administrative Support:
- Assist with ordering supplies and managing inventory for the front of house.
- Provide input on product performance, customer trends, and staffing needs.
- Contribute to daily reporting and operational checklists.
Qualifications
- 2 years experience working in a bakery setting.
- 2 years experience working in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to contribute to a team culture in fast paced and changing work environment.
- Passion for food and community.
- Demonstrated organization skills.
