WHAT WILL YOU DO
This role will assist the Manager, Financial Analysis along with other subject matter experts in gathering, validating, and documenting information required for developing recommendations and will source, document, and prepare reports that are used to influence business decisions. The Financial Planning Analyst will carry out in-depth evaluation and verification of data and will maintain data as appropriate. This role will assist in the development of visualizations, presentations, reports, and memos to display data for use in organizational decisions.
WHATS THE TEAM LIKE
The Financial Planning & Analysis Team works collaboratively with the organization to deliver budgeting and forecasting for the Authority. The team works alongside business unit owners to develop valuable reporting and innovative data visualizations that provide detailed analysis and insights to support quality decision making. This team of collaborative self-starters possess the ability to translate data into compelling stories that informs organizational direction.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Contribute to the development of financial forecasts and the annual budgeting process.
- Analyze budget-to-actual variances to uncover key performance drivers and emerging trends.
- Help craft Board-level presentations by delivering clear, insightful data visualizations and narratives.
- Apply strong financial acumen to interpret complex datasets and generate actionable insights.
- Contribute to a variety of management reporting tasks to support strategic decision-making.
- Create clear and compelling reports, charts, and visual summaries to communicate financial insights.
- Ensure reporting outputs are accurate, relevant, and aligned with business needs.
- Maintain and update databases to reflect current passenger activity and trends.
- Monitor passenger trends and provide input to support forecasting efforts.
- Develop tailored financial reports, dashboards, and models in Oracle EPBCS to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
- Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support for Oracle EPBCS functionalities and user issues.
- Drive ongoing enhancements to forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the development of business cases by evaluating financial impacts of new initiatives and contractual agreements.
- Conduct financial assessments and calculate returns for proposed agreements and partnerships.
- Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover insights that drive improvements in financial performance, operations, and customer experience.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver data-driven recommendations and strategic guidance.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING
- The ability to gain and maintain a RAIC (RAIC Program and Application Information)
- A Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Finance is required.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in a similar role.
- Working towards a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or similar.
- Strong understanding of core finance principles, including Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), nominal vs. real values, debt structures, interest and future value calculations, and currency exchange mechanisms.
- Proficient in statistical analysis and mathematical modeling to support data-driven decision-making.
- Capable of developing foundational business plans and financial projections.
- Advanced Excel skills, including PivotTables, data filtering, structured tables, and complex chart creation.
- Skilled in manipulating text, querying external data sources, and building dynamic dashboards.
- Experienced in analyzing large datasets to extract actionable insights.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint for professional communication and presentations.
- Familiar with handling text files and using Adobe Acrobat Professional for document management.
- Experience with web scraping techniques for data collection and analysis.
- Working knowledge of Oracle ERPM and EPM systems is preferred.
- Adept at translating complex financial and technical information into clear, concise reports and documentation tailored to diverse audiences.
