We’re looking for a skilled Field Specialist to support data collection for telecommunications and utility infrastructure projects in Calgary. This outdoor role involves conducting site surveys, capturing GPS data, and verifying infrastructure information to ensure accuracy for project delivery. You’ll work independently in the field while contributing to essential projects that keep local networks and utilities running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Data Collection & Analysis: Perform on-site inspections using mobile tools and GPS equipment. Gather, validate, and analyze infrastructure and utility data to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Quality Assurance & Documentation: Conduct quality checks on collected data. Prepare and maintain detailed reports, maps, and project deliverables for client submission.
- Technical Operations & Coordination: Use GIS platforms and specialized software to process and map data. Coordinate fieldwork schedules and troubleshoot technical issues as needed.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Safety: Communicate professionally with contractors, stakeholders, and the public. Follow strict safety protocols and contribute to process improvements.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Post-secondary education in Telecommunications, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred. Certifications in telecom or utility infrastructure are an asset.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with GIS software, mobile data collection tools, GPS equipment, and field survey methods. Solid understanding of telecommunications and utility systems.
- Field Experience: 1–3 years of hands-on experience in telecommunications fieldwork or a related industry. Ability to work independently in varying outdoor conditions.
- Data Management: Strong skills in data collection, validation, analysis, and documentation. Experience with QA processes and reporting.
- Project Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines with strong attention to detail. Collaborative and adaptable in team settings.
- Safety & Compliance: Knowledge of industry safety standards and regulations. Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
