We are seeking a reliable, organized, and friendly Farm Store Supervisor! This crucial role supports the daily operations of our bustling farm store, which handles cash transactions from hundreds of daily visitors, manages inventory for our products, and assists with various administrative tasks. You'll be part of a dedicated team of 15-25 employees across the farm during peak seasons. The Farm Store Supervisor works closely with the Farm Store Lead and direct managers.
We are looking for a Farm Store Supervisor to work part time to full time hours during the Summer and Fall (July - August - September-October).
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage Daily Office Operations: Manage daily office tasks including answering phone calls, replying to emails, cash handling, customer receipts, and POS system oversight.
- Employee Scheduling: In collaboration with the Farm Store Lead, the Farm Events Coordinator, create employee work schedules for the farm store, winery, bakery, BBQ food services and events.
- Supervise student workers or part-time staff during busy periods, provide direction and training.
- Assist with Inventory Management: Help monitor stock levels for store items, contact suppliers and place orders when necessary and ensure product freshness and availability. This includes tracking seasonal items like harvested berries, jams, honey and baked goods.
- Support Farm Store Lead and Farm Manager: Provide general assistance in the front office area. Answer phones professionally, greet customers warmly, handle inquiries about field trips, parties, and product availability.
- Manage Customer Data: Record sales, using farm software and spread sheets.
- Handle Cash & Stock Securely: Ensure accuracy in cash handling daily. Conduct end-of-day counts and reconcile funds according to farm protocols.
- Help out in farm store if needed.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Updating and organizing office files; including staff procedures, checklists, etc.
- Field customer phone calls, voicemails, emails and social media inquiries on a daily basis
- Respond to customer complaints and concerns
- Resolve any questions, concerns, conflicts and issues among staff
- Other duties as occasionally assigned if safe and practical to do so.
Education / Knowledge
- 2-5 years of experience in administration, store management or retail supervision
- High school diploma or equivalent, some post-secondary is preferred.
- Good computer literacy – proficient in using standard office applications like Excel or Google Sheets for inventory tracking/record keeping is a must.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, pay attention to detail, and work accurately under pressure.
- Ability to handle customer interactions professionally and courteously. Excellent communication skills are necessary.
- A true team player – comfortable working alongside people including students, families, and experienced staff.
- High energy level to cope with the fast-paced environment during busy harvest periods (especially summer).
- An interest in local food and/or agriculture is an asset.
- First Aid certification is an asset.
Abilities
- Must be able to hear and see clearly as this is a working farm with moving equipment.
- Must be reliable with punctual attendance, including consistent hours during peak seasons (e.g., weekends and holidays).
- Comfortable working outdoors occasionally on farm premises.
