Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Family Law Lawyer to join our team. The successful candidate will handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation, divorce, custody and access, support, property division, domestic contracts, and alternative dispute resolution. This role requires strong advocacy skills, excellent client communication, and the ability to manage files independently while working collaboratively with colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice and representation in all areas of family law, including negotiation, settlement, and litigation.
- Draft and review family law agreements (e.g., separation agreements, cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts).
- Prepare and argue motions, conferences, and trials.
- Manage client files from intake to resolution, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with legal requirements.
- Communicate with clients in a compassionate and professional manner, keeping them informed at every stage.
- Collaborate with support staff and other lawyers to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Stay current with legislation, case law, and best practices in family law.
Qualifications:
- Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- Minimum 2 years of experience practicing family law (required).
- Strong litigation and advocacy skills, with experience in both negotiation and courtroom settings.
- Excellent legal drafting, research, and analytical abilities.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to working with clients facing emotional and personal challenges.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.
