Position Summary
The Environmental Superintendent is a subject matter expert who applies the principles of engineering, soil science, biology, and chemistry to develop solutions to environmental problems. The role has a key focus on development and reclamation closure permits.

Superintendent Responsibilities
Develops and supports environmental and regulatory permits and documents for the Saskatchewan operations. Provides mentorship to the environmental team and communicates upcoming regulatory changes and impacts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Participates, reviews and is a key stakeholder in developing strategy and content of permit applications that are approvable and acceptable to regulatory agencies.
• In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements, interpretations and health and safety programs.
• Coordinates with government agencies to participate in, learn of and administer regulatory updates, and serves as a representative of the company.
• Determines the best ways to meet business goals while protecting the environment.
• Coordinate third-party environmental assessments when required including but not limited to SCDC, archaeological, and hydrogeological sweeps and searches.
• Provide environmental regulatory support to staff, management, and mining operations.
• Provide guidance and review regulatory compliance reports such as GHG emissions, water quality interpretation and reporting, discharges and discoveries, as well as decommissioning and reclamation.
• Perform related work as required.

Typical Physical Demands

Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires constant data input for extended periods of time without leaving the work area. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate reports. Requires mobility sufficient to travel.

Typical Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work. Some fieldwork when required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
• Knowledge of legal land documents, including property deeds, land contracts and lease agreements an asset.

Licenses, Registration, and Certifications

• Ability to obtain a professional designation within 12 months of hire (e.g. PAg, PEng. etc.)
