Job Overview:
The Director of Operations oversees daily operations at Texcan branches, ensuring consistent processes in logistics, inventory, warehouse and distribution, health and safety, continuous improvement, and sustainability. Strong leadership is essential to drive performance, motivate teams, and ensure operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of operations within the branches, including expansion and relocation of branches.

Define departmental goals and monitor progress, adjusting strategies as needed to meet performance targets.

Develop and implement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality, while setting quality objectives and evaluating processes for continuous improvement.

Regularly audit, visit, and communicate with branches/offices to ensure alignment and performance.
-
Actively support the implementation of new processes and operational changes.
-
Resolve day-to-day personnel issues, making management decisions as needed.

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for freight and logistics, inventory management, warehouse and CDC operations, health and safety, and sustainability initiatives.

Collaborate with procurement, sales, and major project teams to improve overall supply chain efficiency.

Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Maintain and enforce company health and safety standards.

Develop and implement sustainability initiatives.

Oversee and enhance Texcan's value-added solutions (paralleling program), including managing stock requirements, working with vendors for pricing and delivery, and continuously improving the program.

Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.

Provide leadership and inspire teams to achieve high performance and collaboration across departments.

Negotiate leases, manage building operations and maintenance.

Manage labour relations for our unionized branches, ensuring effective communication and contract negotiation as needed.

Travel will be required.

Requirements:
-
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management or a related field is a requirement.
-
Certification in supply chain management, project management or Lean Six-Sigma an asset.
-
10+ years of related experience in Operations and/or Supply Chain or Manufacturing with at least 5 years of management experience.

Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles and practices.
-
Knowledge of ISO standards and compliance is a plus.
-
Extensive experience managing a multi-disciplinary team.
-
Strong organizational, project planning and leadership skills.
-
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, leveraging data-driven decision-making.

Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
-
Strong knowledge of inventory control, shipping and receiving processes, and logistics coordination.
-
Experience with labour relations an asset.
