Under the direction of the Director of Dietary and the Cook, the Dietary Aide will follow established policies, procedures and standards, assists in the preparation and service of food for the residents, including less complex meal preparation for the Home and cleans production area and equipment.
Completes tasks outlined day to day in the preparation of meals and meal delivery to residents at breakfast, lunch and dinner. The Dietary Aide supports the preparation of nourishments and delivery to Resident areas at a minimum of three times a day
Responsibilities:
- Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences.
- Observes time limits for meal serving.
- Maintains foods at proper serving temperature
- Assists Cooks to clean and prepare such uncooked food as salads, vegetables and fruits. Follows basic instructions in preparing such simple foods as breakfast items, basic desserts and garnishes
- Clear plates and trays, load and operates dishwasher.
- Adheres to establish departmental policies, procedures regarding quality assurance, QI/RM, fire, safety, environment and infection prevention and control.
- Assembles nourishment carts.
- Cooperates with other departments to meet resident’s needs.
- Ensures food is prepared and served in accordance with MOHLTC LTC Quality Inspection Program, FLTCA 2021 and Kensington Village guidelines, including quality assurance, CQI/RM (temperature, taste etc.).
Minimum Qualifications:
Formal:
- Must have completed Food Service Worker certificate program or be enrolled in the course or be enrolled or completed a related program.
- Must have Public Health Safe Food Handlers Certificate
- Minimum of 1 year experience in Long Term Care is preferred
