Overview
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a key role in delivering exceptional service to clients by handling banking inquiries, processing daily transactions, and promoting financial products. As the first point of contact at the branch, the CSR is responsible for ensuring a positive customer experience while maintaining operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and branch efficiency.
Responsibilities and Duties
Customer Service & Support
- Assist customers with inquiries regarding accounts, transactions, and general banking services
- Provide accurate information on bank products and services, including loans, savings, and investment options
- Handle and resolve customer concerns or complaints in a prompt, professional manner
- Educate customers on digital banking tools and assist with online/mobile banking setup and troubleshooting
- Conduct needs-based conversations to recommend suitable banking solutions.
Cash Handling & Transaction Processing
- Accurately process daily transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, payments, wire transfers, and currency exchanges
- Balance cash drawers and ensure adequate cash levels throughout the day
- Manage cash transactions between treasury and various branch units
- Monitor and reconcile cash supplies in compliance with internal cash handling policies
- Oversee ATM operations including replenishment, troubleshooting, and reporting issues.
Sales & Business Development
- Proactively promote and cross-sell a variety of financial products such as savings, investment, and retirement accounts
- Achieve individual and team’s performance goals and contribute to overall branch KPIs
- Identify customer needs and refer opportunities to appropriate teams (e.g., lending, investments).
Compliance & Administrative Support
- Ensure adherence to all applicable bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain confidentiality and data security for all customer and transactional information
- Accurately record customer interactions and transaction details in the banking system
Other
- Perform ad-hoc tasks and special assignments as requested by branch management
- Support operational and administrative functions of the branch as needed
- Participate in internal meetings, training sessions, or promotional events.
Requirements
- No prior experience necessary; post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field is an asset
- Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is considered an asset
- Intermediate-level mathematical and numeracy skills
- Strong knowledge of banking products and services
- Fluent in both English and Korean (spoken and written)
- Basic understanding of foreign currency and exchange procedures
