Key Accountabilities Resident Relations:- Ensure the provision of a safe, secure environment for all residents. Comply with all levels of legislation.
- The residents’ well-being and comfort is of prime importance, and he/she is responsible for identifying decision-making points in reference to operations to ensure that the property continues to meet the Company’s expectations for a successful and profitable Retirement Residence.
- Ensure that quality care, resident life safety and services to residents are maintained
- Ensure that all residents/family/staff/community concerns are addressed immediately and directed to Director, Operations and Sales (DOS)
- Ensure that all regulatory inspection reports are reported to DOS
Leadership:
- Lead Marketing Management Operations Meetings and provide reports to the DOS
- Represents Management at regular council meetings as required, reviews minutes and responds to requests as required
- Gather identity and decision points in regards to the operations of the property to report to DOS
- Ensure that a solid foundation of day-to-day operations is maintained
Budget & Financial:
- Implement, evaluate and control payroll information practices for the Home to ensure that policies are administered fairly and interpreted correctly by all staff.
- Administering Petty Cash funds for the Home. Keep records as per the Company’s policy and procedure. Submit the petty cash vouchers monthly to Head Office.
- Ensure the continuum of AP adhering to the P&P
- Ensure the continuum of AR adhering to the P&P
Marketing & Occupancy:
- Responsible for monitoring the occupancy of the property on a daily basis
- Responsible for the implementation of programs to attract and retain residents.
- Responsible for personal visits in absence of Sales Consultant/CRM
- Responsible for completing RTA/CHIP agreements in accordance to company P&P
Regulatory Compliance:
- Make available to Head Office all necessary reports on a timely basis. All reports, letters or dealings with any town officials e.g. Health Inspections, Fire Reports, Building Inspections or any matter as deemed the responsibility of the Parent Company.
Operational and Administrative Systems:
- Act as a support to staff in the area of human resources or labor relations and reports any difficulties to their DOS
- Report all incidents that require disciplinary action, including suspension and termination, to their DOS
- Report all major deficiencies to the physical plant or any emergencies to their DOS
- Must be familiar with CSH P&P and direct any non-compliance to DOS
- Must be familiar with RHRA and work in compliance with the regulations
Other:
- Must understand the lines of authority, flexibility and communications within the Company and use them effectively to meet his/her responsibilities
- Demonstrate accountability for her/his own actions
- Aware of employee and supervisor’s responsibilities and follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents.
- Be alert to, remedy, and promptly report all actual or potentially hazardous situations.
- Wear personal protective equipment (or clothing) as required by task, MSDS, or home policy.
- Conduct themselves in accordance with employee conduct policy while living on site.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of a certificate/diploma or degree in nursing, social work, gerontology, hospitality or business.
Experience:
- Has a minimum of two (2) years relevant experience in the retirement operations or hospitality operations industry.
- Experience in progressively responsible roles where he/she has demonstrated ability in leadership, interpersonal skills, operations, and customer service
Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrate that he/she is self-directed, accountable, ability to identify and report issues and has proven leader skills.
Effort
- Requires sustained attention and critical thinking to oversee day-to-day operations, address resident and staff concerns, and ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
- Involves frequent decision-making, problem-solving, and multitasking across diverse operational areas such as staffing, financial management, and resident services
- Requires flexibility and adaptability to assume leadership at different residences on short notice
- Must be capable of handling emotionally sensitive situations involving residents, families, and staff with professionalism and empathy
- Involves periods of prolonged standing, walking throughout the residence, and working at a computer or desk for documentation and reporting purposes
- May require managing physically and mentally demanding situations, including emergency response or staffing shortages
Working Conditions
- Must be able to participate in extensive travel across Ontario and live on site at the retirement residence at which they are assigned
- Must adhere to confidentially, privacy and conduct procedures while living in the property
- When not assigned to a property, expectation will be to work at corporate office and provide support as assigned
