ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Supervisor, Events Management and Customer Support Services, this position is responsible for operating and maintaining audio/visual (A/V) systems required for Council and its Committees, including confidential in-camera sessions, planning and coordinating A/V systems used in Regional facilities, and assisting with the creation of in-house corporate presentation materials.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Operates, maintains, and provides technical support for A/V systems across Regional facilities, including Council Chambers, off-site venues, and special events. Delivers on-site support for live and recorded audio/video streaming, including confidential and in-camera sessions.
- Coordinates and supports A/V requirements for meetings and events involving senior management, Council Members, external officials, media, and the public. Provides setup, operation, and troubleshooting of A/V equipment, often outside regular working hours.
- Assists in the planning, design, and implementation of A/V systems in corporate and Regional off-site meeting rooms and recommends long-term solutions and emerging technologies to enhance A/V capabilities, including accessibility features for individuals with disabilities.
- Supports the setup, integration, and maintenance of A/V systems, ensuring reliable operation of projectors, video/audio systems, and lighting to enhance user experience.
- Provides training and guidance to Regional staff and external users on the use of A/V equipment and systems, and provides technical direction to Regional employees who provide A/V services to the corporation and their departments on a temporary basis.
- Designs A/V system specifications for procurement documents (RFPs, RFQs, tenders) and participates in vendor evaluations. Makes recommendations to management for annual capital and operating budgets related to improving A/V infrastructure.
- Researches emerging A/V technologies to support continuous improvement and innovation across Regional facilities.
- Acts as liaison with film and media production companies using Regional facilities, ensuring technical compatibility and support.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in a relevant field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in the support, repair, and operations of A/V technology.
- Extensive knowledge of A/V systems, current trends, and emerging technologies.
- Demonstrated understanding of the workings of municipal government.
- Ability to demonstrate the Region’s core competencies.
- Ability to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to withstand long periods of walking, standing and frequent bending and twisting.
- Ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
- Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
