NATURE OF WORK:
Reporting to the Director of Education Services, the Coordinator of Specialized Programs manages the operations, programs and activities pertaining to specialized pedagogical programs in paving the groundwork for building Cree identity, and caters to CSB vision and mission.
This position entails the performance of duties required for the coordination, supervision, evaluation, research and development of special initiatives and programs pertaining to the management of the Arts, Sports and/or other specialized programs/initiatives of the Cree school board. The position includes, in particular, responsibility for the coordination of special pedagogical programs and activities pertaining to development of curriculum, teaching methods, as well as measurement and evaluation of student achievement.
The Coordinator of Specialized Programs also contributes to the development and implementation of Education Services instructional strategies and program alignment and provides expertise and advice when required.
The Coordinator of Specialized Programs leads by example, fosters a spirit of teamwork, engages employees and facilitates a workplace culture in keeping with the CSB organizational values.
CHARACTERISTIC FUNCTIONS:
Departmental Responsibilities
Collaborate with Director in the development and execution of the annual departmental action plan.
Support the Director in the development and monitoring of departmental strategies, objectives, policies and programs. Identify opportunities for adjustment, as required.
Contribute to the preparation, implementation, evaluation of select operations/projects.
Participate in the development and implementation of up-to-date efficient and effective systems, databases/files that respond to the needs of the department while supporting the overall organization and ensuring alignment with legal and governance requirements.
Participate in the development, implementation of departmental processes, internal procedures and policies and ensure monitoring as well as compliance in line with key performance measures.
Coordinate the preparation and analysis of select reports and circulate, as appropriate.
Establish and maintain effective communications and relations within his/her sector, across the CSB and with internal and external stakeholders
Role-specific Responsibilities
Lead the development, planning, coordinating, implementation and monitoring of specialized programs designed and developed by CSB such as Mikwchiyam Arts program, Fitness program, in addition to the development, planning, coordinating, implementation and monitoring of teaching methods, instructional differentiation and evaluation as well as control measures.
Lead the development of the standards and procedures for the evaluation of student achievement and prepare internal examinations in selected subjects.
Coordinate the activities related to the implementation and update of the curriculums.
Ensure compliance with basic school regulations, the programs of study and the procedures for the certification of studies.
Coordinating with program leaders and partners to mitigate any risks, regularly reporting program outcomes and impacts, cultivating robust partner relationships and offering extensive support to consultants and teachers engaged in collaborative programming efforts.
Prepare reports for supervisor and governance.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Participate in resource selection and allocation. Ensure supervision, coaching and professional development of all special programs consultants such as Arts Consultants and Physical Education consultant.
Establish work priorities and resource requirements for the department.
Pursue own professional development in order to enhance personal and organizational capacity as well as meet the changing needs of the organization.
Participate in the technical work of department as required.
Coordinate and evaluate the performance of personnel under his/her authority.
Represent department, as required.
Any other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Undergraduate degree or hold a senior executive or senior staff position, excluding a manager position in a board
5 years of relevant experience
Permanent teaching permit (Brevet)
Experiences in developing and implementation of specialized Indigenous Programs
Proficiency in English is required
Knowledge of French and Cree are assets.
