Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Cook to join our team and provide nourishing meals for residents in long-term care facilities. This role is perfect for individuals who have a passion for culinary arts and a desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve meals for residents under the direction of the Food Service Manager/Food Service Supervisor
- Follow standardized recipes and HACCP procedures to ensure food safety and quality
- Complete all assigned training as required by the Long-Term Care Homes Act (LTCHA) and Regulation 79/10
- Respect and support residents' multicultural diversity, beliefs, and values
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to the facility's philosophy, objectives, and policies
- Adhere to Health and Safety legislation, internal policies, and procedures
- Work safely to reduce the risk of injury to self, co-workers, and residents
Qualifications
- Experience in food preparation, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards and HACCP principles
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and cooking procedures
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weights
- Food handler's certificate mandatory
- Culinary diploma or certificate is a plus
