NAIT’s Advanced Welding Technology program combines advanced technical knowledge, welding skills, and exposure to modern technologies to give a graduate the competitive edge into a career in welding. From skills in fabrication to product innovation and inspection methods, students will gain foundational skills that are in-demand by industry.
The program is currently recruiting for salaried instructors who are energetic leaders, committed to student success, and have outstanding communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory and industry setting
- Participate in curriculum development, program reviews and course reviews
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
- Provide early and on-going coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications and program promotions
- Maintenance and/or submission of program/student records accurately and promptly
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Completion of a Welding Journeyperson certificate, B Pressure and Inter-Provincial Red Seal required
- Welding Automation training and experience would be an asset.
- Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket.
- Teaching experience an asset
Note: Those candidates who are successful in the interview process will be required to perform practical testing components related to the technical portion of the position.
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).
This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
