What You Will Do:

GFT is seeking a Construction Inspector to join our Construction Services Group in Toronto, ON. This role follows a work site work model, requiring full attendance at our client worksite.

What you'll be challenged to do:

As a Construction Inspector, you will lead inspections and oversee construction activities, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards while effectively communicating with project teams and stakeholders. This role will enable you to take on new challenges and expand your career in construction management, focusing on the successful delivery of transportation projects in the GTHA.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for the following:
  • Establishing a safety-first culture for all construction projects.
  • Inspecting work materials and methods to ensure compliance with contract documents, maintaining quality and safety.
  • Documenting construction activity, including environmental events and progress, for project closeout.
  • Issuing and following up on contract deficiency reports and required corrective actions.
  • Assisting in resolving construction-related issues and enhancing processes.
  • Carrying out all quality assurance and quality control functions and coordinating inspections.
  • Leading small projects in managing, implementing, and tracking change notices for as-constructed drawings.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to solve complex problems and report on contract compliance.
  • Reviewing the quality of contractors' work and preparing reports for clients.
  • Engaging in professional growth opportunities, leadership training, and preparation for future leadership roles.

What you will bring to our firm:
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of construction engineering experience, including field construction and contract administration in the Toronto, ON/ GTA area.
  • Experience in inspecting mechanical and/or electrical systems and supervising construction sites.
  • Proven understanding of industry standards, construction, Health and Safety codes, and regulations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • OACETT Designation (C.E.T, C.Tech, A.Sc.T).

What we prefer you bring:
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, provincial, and local transit operation regulations.
  • Strong communication, listening, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in resolving claims and working in both office and field environments.
Valid driver’s license and flexibility to travel to construction sites for extended periods and work outside of normal business hours.

Compensation:

The range for this position is salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
