Trans Mountain Corporation operates Canada’s only pipeline system transporting oil products to the West Coast. We deliver approximately 890,000 barrels of petroleum products each day through a dual pipeline system of more than 1,150 kilometres of pipeline in Alberta, British Columbia and Washington state.

Trans Mountain also operates a state-of-the-art loading facility, Westridge Marine Terminal, with three berths providing tidewater access to global markets.

As a Communications, Co-Op Student (12 months) with Trans Mountain, you’ll have the opportunity to work with a progressive group of Communications, Public Affairs and Government Relations experts. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience for their future employment portfolio and will be exposed to project management and working with third-party vendors.

This opportunity is open to post-secondary students who are currently enrolled in their 3rd year of studies and is part of a Co-op Program.

The position will begin in January 2026 with a term length of 12 months.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support a variety of communication initiatives, including developing and posting compelling content for internal and external channels.
  • Support the day-to-day operations of Trans Mountain’s intranet including developing content, ensuring the existing content is relevant and up-to-date and supporting other efforts to enhance user experience.
  • Support the company’s digital asset library, including uploading and cataloging imagery.
  • Research and write for the weekly internal newsletter.
  • Provide internal event support for employee communications activities, including but not limited to company-wide townhalls, executive listen & learns, employee engagement events.
  • Support for daily media monitoring reports, social media monitoring and web and intranet analytics required to inform content development.
  • Support engagement with Government relations and industry groups through the preparation of materials.

Qualifications and Professional Experience:
  • Actively enrolled in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design or a degree in a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to take high-quality photos and videos an asset.
  • PowerPoint and graphic design skills preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to accurately analyze information.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively, with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude; self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimal supervision and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Attention to detail is critical even when under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, be flexible and adaptable to change.

In British Columbia, the system crosses the traditional territories of numerous First Nations that are affiliated with the Secwepemc, Dakelh (Carrier), Nlaka'pamux, Syilx/Okanagan, Interior and Coast Salish, Stó:lo, as well as the Métis.
Trans Mountain also operates through 15 First Nation Reserves located within the region spanning the BC interior through Fraser Valley.
