Maker of Things (Short Run Machinist / Manufacturing Technician )

Taeron Systems is a growing aerospace company specializing in R&D, design, engineering, and manufacturing of aviation equipment primarily in the helicopter industry. We are a small, close-knit team of aerospace enthusiasts and have built our reputation on rapidly innovating to provide our customers with new technologies and innovative products.
We are searching for someone to join us in a flexible ‘Maker of Things’ role. This is primarily a machinist, programming and operating a CNC lathe and mill. Other activities may include mechanical/electrical assembly, testing, etc. The successful candidate will be keen to take up slack in various areas of the shop helping us to deliver excellent quality products.
Job Responsibilities:
- Program, set up, and operate CNC mill, lathe, and 3D Printers
- Produce parts, fixtures, and tools to required tolerances and quality standards
- Interpret technical drawings and 3D models to ensure parts are manufactured to specifications
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and material stock
- Collaborate with engineers to optimize designs for manufacture
- Maintain quality and safety processes and assist to continuously improve them
- Product Assembly and Completion
- Finishing eg. bead blasting, powder coating, alodine
- Testing eg. load testing, electrical testing, operation testing
- Shipping and Receiving
- Maintain shop organization and cleanliness
Skills and Attributes:
The following skills and experience are our idea of what a candidate would possess; however if you have more than 60 % of them or feel you have a combination of skills and experience that differs from this list and you would be a strong candidate, we encourage you to submit an application outlining why you are a good fit.
- Knowledge and experience with CAD/CAM programs such as Fusion 360 or Solidworks
- Experience operating CNC mills and lathes (we use Haas and Tormach machines)
- Experience making machined parts that conform to engineering drawings
- Very comfortable working with common hand tools
- Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Machining; Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma; or equivalent experience
- Experience working within a quality assurance or control program and completing required documentation
- Passion for and experience in product design and development preferred
- An experimental and creative mindset, you relish the opportunity to try new things
Other requirements:
The successful candidate must pass a criminal record check and background check.
Must be a permanent resident of Canada or Canadian citizen.
Location: Aircraft Hangar, YVR Airport (6001 Grant McConchie Way)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour
