Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and professionally trained Italian Chef with a proven track record in authentic Italian cuisine. This is a senior-level position and is not open to candidates without extensive, verifiable experience in professional Italian kitchens.
The ideal candidate will have completed formal culinary training, hold recognized chef certifications, and possess deep, practical knowledge of Italian culinary traditions—from regional techniques and ingredient integrity to classical preparation. While training in Italy or under Italian culinary leadership is a strong asset, we are primarily seeking individuals with serious culinary education, leadership experience, and a strong foundation in Italian cooking. This role requires authenticity, creativity, and a disciplined commitment to culinary excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all kitchen operations with efficiency, consistency, and high attention to detail
- Design and execute seasonal menus featuring authentic regional Italian cuisine
- Prepare fresh pasta, sauces, meats, seafood, and traditional Italian dishes with exceptional quality and presentation
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, promoting a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and accountability
- Source and select top-quality ingredients in line with Italian culinary standards
- Manage kitchen inventory, ordering, and cost control to minimize waste and maintain excellence
- Ensure full compliance with food safety and sanitation standards at all times
- Collaborate with management on menu development, specials, and event offerings
- Maintain strict quality control, conducting tastings and inspections to uphold the highest standards
Education & Certifications
- Culinary diploma or certification from an accredited institution is required
- Specialized coursework or training in Italian cuisine is highly preferred
- Valid Food Handler Certificate and solid knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Proof of all credentials, certifications, and culinary education must be provided
- Training under certified or master Italian chefs is a strong asset
- Wine and food pairing knowledge or sommelier training is considered a plus
Qualifications
- Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience in Italian kitchens (fine dining or high-volume environments)
- Expertise in classic and regional Italian techniques, ingredients, and traditional recipes
- Demonstrated ability to prepare a wide range of authentic dishes with consistency and precision
- Prior experience in a leadership or head chef role, managing and mentoring culinary teams
- Strong skills in kitchen organization, time management, and operations
- Ability to maintain high standards of food quality, cleanliness, and presentation under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with ownership and staff
- While formal training in Italy is not mandatory, equivalent experience and credentials are required
