Job Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Associate Lawyer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years of experience in Immigration and Refugee Law and must be on the legal aid panel for refugee law. This role requires a proactive lawyer with a deep understanding of refugee claims and immigration cases, who can manage a significant caseload and provide exceptional legal services to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in refugee claims, hearings, and appeals, ensuring thorough preparation and effective advocacy.
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and support on a wide range of immigration matters, including permanent residency, sponsorship, and work permits.
- Prepare and file legal documents related to refugee and immigration cases, including applications, affidavits, and appeals.
- Conduct detailed legal research to stay abreast of changes in immigration and refugee law and apply this knowledge to client cases.
- Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to ensure cohesive case management and optimal outcomes for clients.
- Participate in client consultations, interviews, and meetings, providing clear and accurate guidance.
- Maintain detailed and organized case files and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and firm standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development to enhance legal skills and knowledge in immigration and refugee law.
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of experience in Immigration and Refugee Law.
- Must be on the legal aid panel for refugee law.
- Demonstrated experience handling refugee claims and immigration cases with a successful track record.
- Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical standards.
- Ability to work independently, manage a significant caseload, and meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Proficiency in using legal research tools and case management software.
