High Birch Childcare & Learning Centre Inc. is a trusted childcare facility servicing the Markham area for 27 years. We offer school-age before and after-school programs in 4 public schools. Our programs also include P.A. Days, March Break, Winter Camp, and Summer Camp. We are a team of 22 skilled and enthusiastic educators who are committed to providing holistic and inclusive learning opportunities for our children.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Teacher for our After School Program - Monday to Friday 3 to 6 p.m. Applicants who have an Early Childhood Education Diploma or is an Early Childhood Education student, OCT, Park & Recreation graduates, Child &and Youth Worker students and previous childcare experience in a childcare facility are welcome to apply.
Qualified candidates must:
1) Be able to demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for working with children.
2) Demonstrate knowledge of How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years.
3) Demonstrate knowledge of Program Planning & the ELECT document.
4) Demonstrate knowledge concerning Developmentally Appropriate Practice.
5) Have a proven record of punctuality and attendance.
6) Work well in a team and model mutual respect and practical interpersonal communication skills.
7) Be committed to collaborative reflective practice and ongoing continuous professional development.
8) Be technology proficient - iPad, laptops, word processing, internet browsing.
9) Be able to maintain positive communication with parents and caregivers of the children.
10) Demonstrate knowledge and practical implications of a positive learning environment for children.
11) Be flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
