About the job
As part of our Research and Lab team, our Lab Analyst (HPLC) will execute precise quality control testing, review analytical results, and generate accurate reports to ensure product excellence. You are a meticulous and detail-oriented professional with a strong passion for controlled scientific protocols, benchwork, and regulatory compliance. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to uphold Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and national and international regulatory standards, supporting Pure Sunfarms’ commitment to delivering safe, high-quality cannabis products to our customers.
Essential Functions
Lab work (70% of Time Spent)
- Perform routine execution of analytical methods using various instruments such as HPLC-UV, GC/MS
- Interpret and prepare data for release
- Participate in routine maintenance of instruments
- Assist in the smooth day-to-day operations of the lab including ordering supplies, lab waste segregation and disposal, daily upkeep and housekeeping
- Operate safely in a laboratory environment in accordance with laboratory best practices
Data Analysis and Documentation (30% of Time Spent)
- Save reports and maintain integrity of files with attention to detail
- Identify ‘Out of Trend’ (OOT) and ‘Out of Specification’ (OOS) data, conduct laboratory investigations and draft laboratory investigation reports
- Review technical data, documents, and protocols as required
- Update logbooks, forms and excel worksheets for proper documentation
- Draft and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for laboratory operations and instrumentation

Your Experience
- B.Sc. or technical diploma in Chemistry
- A minimum of 2 years' experience executing benchtop analytical methods including high accuracy and precision on standard laboratory tools and instrumentation
- Experience in high-throughput and fast-paced laboratory environments
- Prior experience working with cannabis is an asset
Your Approach & Strengths
- Experience independently operating HPLC-UV instrumentation highly desirable, knowledge and experience operating GC-MS an asset
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience writing and reviewing technical laboratory documents
- Proven time management, organization, task prioritization skills and a strong attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Leads with curiosity and a strong willingness to learn
- Knowledge and understanding of regulated laboratory environments such as GXP, ISO is preferred
Must have the ability to maintain and pass an RCMP criminal record check and obtain a security clearance.
