The Wiarton Keppel International Airport (CYVV) is a certified airport, owned and operated by WIA Acquireco Ltd. Total Aviation & Airport Solutions manages the airport on behalf of WIA Acquireco Ltd. and ensures compliance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations. We are looking for a full-time, mature, responsible individual to join the airport team at Wiarton.
The Airport Operations Manager position encompasses a variety of airport related inspections, maintenance and equipment operations. The Airport Operations Manager position will report to the Manager, Safety and Compliance at Total Aviation and Airport Solutions.
Operations Manager:
Appropriate training will be provided and the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Completing Airfield Inspections in accordance with the airport Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Completing airfield bulk plant inspections.
- Undertaking airfield wildlife monitoring, response and prevention.
- Undertaking general repairs and maintenance to airfield lighting and signage.
- Undertaking general repairs and preventative maintenance work on all airport surfaces.
- Responding to airport tenant, user and public inquiries.
- Operating a variety of unique heavy equipment to maintain the airport’s airside and public surfaces.
- Performing snow removal operations.
- Conducting daily terminal janitorial cleaning.
- Undertaking administrative tasks related to the airport’s Safety Management Systems and tenant relating services.
- Carrying out other duties relative to this position as required.
- It is important to understand that most of the work will be physical in nature, with administrative tasks.
Scheduled Hours:
- Standard hours are between 37 – 40 hours per week.
- Days and times are TBD
- All hours are paid at straight time, and any hours beyond regular hours are accumulated as banked time to be used for additional time off during the summer.
- Stat days worked are accumulated and banked time off is provided in lieu.
- No vacation requests are permitted between November 15 and April 15.
- On occasion your work schedule may be modified due to operational and training needs. Appropriate notice will be provided.
Supporting Management Staff by:
- Providing on call support for winter operations and runway surface conditions;
- Assisting with supervision of seasonal staff and operations;
- Assisting with the planning and execution of airport special events;
- On-call responsibilities includes but are not limited to, monitoring the weather (in winter months) and responding to the airport from time to time as needed for issues that may occur.
Skills/Experience/Training Required:
- Must have an Ontario Driver’s License (Class G2 or G) and reliable source of transportation;
- Strong oral and written communication skills in English;
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to troubleshoot in a face paced environment;
- Excellent organizational skills and initiative;
- Strong skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint)
- Must be physically capable of working outdoors in adverse weather conditions, and working evening, night, and weekend shifts as required;
- Employment/experience in airport operations is considered an asset;
- Industry Canada Aeronautical Radio license is an asset;
- Completed an accredited postsecondary program in airport operations / aviation management.
- Must be willing to reside within 35 minutes of the airport.
