About the Program:
Our After-School programs provide engaging recreational experiences for individuals with Autism and/or diverse support needs, ranging from school-aged children to young adults. Programs run after-school Monday to Friday. Locations include Sackville Sports Stadium, Captain William Spry Community Centre and Bedford Place Mall.
Position: After-School Program - Autism Support Worker
As a Support Worker, you’ll play a key role in creating meaningful, inclusive experiences for our participants by providing direct, individualized support. We’re seeking enthusiastic, compassionate individuals who are passionate about supporting people with additional needs and excited to grow their skills in a supportive team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to participants to ensure safety, engagement, and inclusion in all activities.
- Supervise and actively engage participants in both indoor and outdoor recreational activities.
- Assist program leaders in delivering age-appropriate programming.
- Promote a positive and respectful environment where participants can learn, socialize, and thrive.
- Collaborate with team members to plan, organize, and implement daily activities.
- Set up and clean up program areas before and after each session.
- Participate in swimming activities with participants (required).
Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience working with children, youth, or young adults in a recreational, educational, or support setting.
- Understanding of disability supports and familiarity with positive behavioural interventions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to follow direction in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively. NVCI required.
- Adaptability, teamwork, and a willingness to learn.

This flexible, part-time position is ideal for students or professionals looking for 3–15 hours per week, with set shifts and optional on-call opportunities.

Pay: $16.00-$20.00 per hour
