Job Overview
The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Landscape Design Technician to join our team of professionals in the Community Development Division, Green Infrastructure Services Department. Reporting to the Manager, Green Infrastructure Services, this unionized position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your creativity, knowledge and experience in landscape architecture and development. You will be responsible for performing technical landscape design work that supports our green infrastructure initiatives, and this position is ideal for applicants who are dynamic, team-oriented and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Review designs and specifications for conformance to applicable community and neighbourhood plan requirements, bylaws, policies and conditions
- Coordinate the municipal street tree and boulevard planting programs/policy through all phases of the development review process and ensure accurate as-built plans are prepared for development projects
- Perform site inspections of municipal development projects as required to ensure conformity with plans and specifications and prepare status reports on development and park projects
- Compile development generated landscape statistics relating to trees, trails and development types
- Perform related work as required
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a 2 year diploma program in Landscape Design or Landscape Architecture and some directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
- Thorough knowledge of landscape design principles and practices, landscape construction methods and skill in the use of computerized drafting and design software
- Considerable knowledge of landscape construction methods
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision on assigned projects
Required Certifications/Licenses
Candidates must have the following valid and current certifications/licenses (must be valid at the time the posting closes) and these must be attached with your application.
- BC Class 5 (full privilege) Driver’s License.
