We are looking for one (1) Youth & Family Counsellor II to join our Youth Intensive Case Management Program. Please note this program is based in Lethbridge.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Management of Wood's Homes as determined by each program, the Youth & Family Counsellor is the primary worker with children, youth and families. The Youth & Family Counsellor will demonstrate due diligence in being Exceptional in the delivery of high-quality services and in meeting the requirements of the Health and Safety Management System at Wood’s Homes.
Responsibilities
- Provision of all components of service delivery, including engagement of youth with a broad range of barriers and presenting concerns. This may involve stabilization, assessment, housing, connection to financial support, family outreach, property owners/managers and community engagement, advocacy, and system navigation.
- Teaching, leading, and role modelling for young people.
- Develop housing options for youth and expertise related to housing options and market availability.
- Develop strong working relationships with property owners/managers to mitigate risk of eviction/housing breakdown through collaborative problem solving.
- Develop knowledge of all aspects of tenancy and support youth to develop knowledge.
- Coordination of by-names list as needed, in collaboration with ICMs.
- Works with young people to foster the development of personal and social functioning.
- Is an effective, mature, and appropriate role model for each client to utilize in his/her growth.
- Participates actively in supervisory meetings, team meetings, retreats, planning sessions, and designated in-service training.
- Is responsible for a variety of therapeutic responsibilities for children, youth, families, and young adults including attendance at case conferences, involvement in intervention strategies, consultations, school meeting, doctor’s appointments, family meetings etc. and related case management.
- Executes other responsibilities as may be assigned or specific to the program.
- Diploma/Undergraduate Degree in the Social Sciences, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Nursing, and preferred minimum two years of case management experience.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Experience in working with young people preferred.
- Current proof of professional registration may be required for certain diplomas or degrees.
- Must have a class 5 driver’s license and own transportation.
