Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Specialty Coffee Barista to join our team.
The ideal candidate is someone who appreciates the craft of coffee, understands the nuances of different brewing methods, and thrives on delivering an exceptional customer experience.
As a Barista at The Ministry of Coffee, you will be responsible for expertly preparing and serving high-quality coffee beverages while fostering a warm and inviting atmosphere for our guests.
This role requires precision, creativity, and a dedication to excellence in every cup.
Fluency in French & English is a must and while your main location will be at our VIA Rail cafe, a willingness to work between multiple locations is desireable.
Responsibilities
- Expertly craft a variety of espresso-based drinks and brew specialty coffee.
- Maintain consistency in coffee preparation by adhering to precise recipes and dialing in espresso for optimal flavour.
- Educate customers on coffee origins, tasting notes, and brewing techniques to enhance their experience.
- Ensure quality control by monitoring coffee freshness, grinding beans to order, and maintaining equipment properly.
- Keep the coffee bar pristine with strict adherence to hygiene and food safety regulations.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth service during peak hours.
- Engage with customers, creating a personal connection through coffee recommendations and genuine conversation.
Experience
- Previous experience in a specialty coffee shop is preferred but not required—passion for coffee is essential!
- Familiarity with espresso machines, grinders, and manual brewing techniques is highly advantageous.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and create a memorable guest experience.
- Basic math skills required for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- A commitment to learning and growing within the specialty coffee industry.
