Job Summary Reporting to the Manager the Laundry Aides are responsible for laundry in a complex care and/or seniors living environment. Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide personal laundry services for residents in accordance with established work routines.
- Collect soiled linens, clothing, and personal items from residents’ rooms and common areas. Sort items by type, color, and fabric content for appropriate laundering.
- Operate industrial-sized washers, dryers, and ironing machines to clean and sanitize residents’ clothing, linens, and other textiles. Follow manufacturer instructions and facility & company protocols for machine operations
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness and infections. Use appropriate cleaning agents, detergents, and water temperatures to effectively sanitize laundry items.
- Handle specialized items such as incontinence pads, bed pads, and medical garments with care, ensuring thorough cleaning and disinfection while preserving their integrity and effectiveness.
- Identify and treat stains on clothing and linens using appropriate stain removal techniques. Check items for damage such as tears, loose seams, or missing buttons and report any significant damage to supervisors.
- Fold or hand clean laundry neatly and accurately according to established standards. Package items for distribution to residents’ rooms or storage areas, ensuring that each resident receives their belongings promptly and correctly.
- Support the facility Safety Program and monitor safety in the living and working environment; respond to and report hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, and unsafe or faulty equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory levels for laundry supplies such as detergent, bleach, fabric softener, and replacement parts for equipment. Place order for supplies as needed to ensure continuous operation.
- Follow company and facility laundry guidelines and routines.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to fire/emergency procedures and policies of the facility.
- Ensure all safety rules and safe work procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Utilize the Right to Refuse unsafe work when appropriate, by following the proper procedure.

Mandatory Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Holds and Maintains Valid certification in Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- A negative TB test or chest x-ray within the last six months, or ability to provide TB clearance documents.
- Successfully clears and maintains, as required by company and facility, an appropriate background/criminal record check in accordance with licensing regulations; Re-submits such as required or every five years.
- Provide signed annual mandatory declaration of criminal records.

Pay: $24.34-$25.00 per hour
