The Role: Wealth Planner


This is for a Full Time, Temporary role that reports directly into the Team Mgr Wealth Solutions.

We are looking for passionate professionals with 2 or more years of financial industry experience to work as a Wealth Planner. We are looking for individuals who have the desire to not only leverage their existing skills and/but are proactively seeking opportunities to developing new skills/experiences and build a book of clients that support their career goals and ongoing development. This is a Temporary Full-Time role that will be fully on-site.


A typical day involves:

  • Providing quality financial planning and advice that enables members to achieve financial objectives while minimizing risk to the member and Vancity.
  • Recommending investment products and services (leading with SRI) suitable to the members' investment needs adhering to applicable regulatory standards.
  • Building and maintaining a book of investment accounts by sourcing new business, building relationships with lines of business and within the branch, and developing relationships with existing members.
  • Identifying member needs and recommending or referring appropriate financial products and services.
  • Through collaboration with other Sustainable Wealth Management specialists, leverage opportunities across to enhance member well-being through introduction to all financial channels.
  • Providing ongoing technical expertise and coaching to branch staff regarding Sustainable Wealth Management products and services.

You are:

  • A Confident Problem Solver – you take every conversation with our members as a chance to solve their investment needs
  • A Great Communicator – you can build relationships quite easily with a variety of different people and provide expertise and advice to appropriate financial products and services
  • Passionate about sales – your impeccable track record for sourcing new business, and developing relationships with members and prospective members makes you sought after by so many people
  • Analytical – You find it easy to recommend investment products and services (including SRI) suitable to the members' investment needs adhering to applicable regulatory standards
  • Flexible – you are willing to travel or move geographically within Vancity’s market area to meet our member and/or business needs.
  • Passionate – about being a financial force for change and believe that finance can have a positive impact in the world.

You have:

  • 2 or more years of financial industry experience
  • Mutual Fund License (CSC or IFIC program)
  • Excellent Relationship Building Skills
  • A solid grasp of the financial services industry
  • PFP/CFP designation

Bonus points if you have:

  • Previous experience managing a portfolio of member relationships in a wealth management or similar role
  • A specialized post-secondary diploma in Business Administration / general undergraduate degree
  • Proficiency in Cantonese and Mandarin is a plus, as it will enhance communication with our diverse client base.

Salary Range: Incentive 4wks

The starting salary range for this role is $75,000 plus incentive annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications, skills, previous experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package, employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
