By carrying out this strategy, currently SENER has a solid presence in the local market. SENER has been involved in practically every rail and transit project developed in Canada in the last 10 years: Ontario Line, Scarborough, Confederation LRT, Valley Line, Finch West LRT, REM, RER, Yonge line, Eglinton in 7 different Canadian cities, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Quebec City, Vancouver, Calgary & Edmonton.

The role of the VP of Strategy & Business Development will be to support SENER in its goal to grow and to be recognized as a main player in Canada's Rail Engineering sector along with playing a pivotal role in expanding SENER’s existing clients and project base in other civil sectors. This role will directly report to our CEO based here in Toronto.

The VP will work together with SENER Business Operations Management, and local Sener leaders to accomplish the following:


  • Collaborate to develop objectives and strategies in support of overall business development management goals in the target market segments, assisting in the development and implementation of strategic plans
  • Identify priorities and strategic opportunities in the Canadian market
  • Actively contribute to the growth of SENER in Canada through business development, key pursuit, and sales strategy
  • Lead and/or conduct business development efforts, including market research, client relationships, teaming process, developing bids, and securing contracts
  • Work effectively with Sener’s proposals and bid team
  • Negotiate with and/or assist in negotiations with the clients, partners and subcontracts
  • Utilize, maintain, and monitor the opportunity pipeline to optimize business development plans
  • Partner with market leaders to drive collaboration on pursuits
  • Ensure local marketplace reputation through established relationships and support of leadership.
  • Accountable to achieve organic growth targets

Job Requirements:

  • Must have an elite and proven track record in Business Development with tangible results
  • Must have 8-10 years of experience in business development at the Director or Senior Manager level in Rail, transit or large Civil projects locally to Toronto
  • A proven track record of establishing and maintaining client relationships in the Canadian rail\civil engineering market
  • Business Analytical Skills and knowledge of advanced negotiating approaches and tactics
  • Must have the ability to maintain existing client relationships in addition to developing new ones
  • Ability to report data and analyze data for relevant trends
  • Well organized, energetic, and able to work well under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and take discretionary initiative
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to speak Spanish is an asset but not mandatory
  • Engineering background is an asset in Civil or Rail Engineering
  • Strong computer proficiency, especially PowerPoint, and excel
