McElhanney is excited to add a Transportation Project Manager to our team in Calgary, AB.
We are seeking a transportation engineer who combines strong technical expertise with proven project management skills to lead and deliver complex transportation projects.

What You’ll Be Doing:
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of transportation planning and engineering projects—from proposal development, scoping, and budgeting through detailed design, implementation, and closeout.
- Develop and actively manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to meet or exceed performance, quality, and delivery benchmarks.
- Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary teams across multiple offices and disciplines, promoting collaboration and efficiency in achieving project goals.
- Prepare and manage comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, financial tracking reports, progress summaries, and contract deliverables.
- Mentor junior engineering staff by providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and support for their ongoing professional development.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, operations, or planning, with a significant track record of successful project management.
- Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng.), Professional Technologist (P.Tech), or Professional Transportation Planner
- Proven expertise in managing complex transportation projects, with strong skills in budgeting, scheduling, client relations, and producing effective technical documents and winning proposals.
- Strong background in traffic analysis, including hands-on experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, Vistro, and HCS. Experience with VISSIM, VISUM, or EMME is an asset.
- Familiarity with planning and design standards from Alberta Transportation, the City of Calgary, and the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), and other North American jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively, expertly handling multiple tasks and priorities while maintaining meticulous attention to detail and consistently meeting deadlines.
- Valid (or in progress) Class 5 driver’s license.
The salary range for this position is $ 95,000 – 140,000 per annum. McElhanney offers fair compensation that is commensurate with the individual’s education, experience, skills, and professional qualifications. The posted base salary/wage range is representative of the required level of qualifications and experience for the position as noted in the job posting. The salary offered will be based on the experience and qualifications of the successful candidate.
