Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Traffic Controller to join our team. With three hiring positions available, we are looking for one team lead who has experience in running a flagging crew and willing to help expand our flagging operations. The other position is for a experienced flagger looking to run their own crew within one year. The ideal candidates will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of traffic around road work areas. You will be following a powerline crew performing contamination removal on distribution poles across Alberta. This position requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Direct and control vehicle and pedestrian traffic at construction sites or roadwork areas to ensure safety.
- Set up and dismantle traffic control devices, including cones, signs, and barriers.
- Communicate effectively with drivers and pedestrians to provide clear instructions.
- Monitor traffic flow and adjust control measures as necessary to minimize delays.
- Collaborate with construction crews to coordinate safe work zones.
- Report any incidents or hazards to the appropriate authorities promptly.
- Maintain a clear understanding of local traffic laws and regulations.
Requirements
- 2 years minimum experience with traffic control/flagging required
- Must have a drivers License
- Must have own transportation or way to get to and from shop or job site
- Must have CSA approved steel toe boots with 6" heel
- Ability to work out of town
- First Aid, CSTS is an asset
Skills
- Ability to setup barriers for traffic control as needed.
- Strong observational skills to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Excellent verbal communication skills for effective interaction with the public and team members.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining focus on safety.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour
