We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Golden Horn Elementary School team. The GHES school is located within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and Ta'an Kwäch'än Council. We value experiential/place-based learning on the land and inside the classroom. We strive to use the best research-driven teaching methods that foster learner agency and student-led learning experiences . This position provides Education Assistant 1.0 FTE – working one on one with students to help support their physical well-being, learning and social-emotional needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent
- Experience working with youth in an elementary school setting
- Experience working with youth with special needs would be considered an asset
- Post-secondary training in educational assistant, exceptionality worker, special education assistant, or a related field would be considered an asset
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;
- Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations;
- Ability to work as a member of a team;
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Willingness to work in outdoor education programming would be an asset;
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process
