QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;
Experience working with youth;
Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or Medical Services would be an asset;
Experience working with youth with cognitive or behavioural special needs would be an asset;
Experience attending to health care physical needs, which may include feeding, toileting, and responding to medical needs would be an asset;
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;
Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations;
Ability to work as a member of a team;
Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Calm and patient, with the ability to positively resolve conflict
Experience collaborating with teachers and staff to successfully implement a student’s individualized education program;
Willingness to engage in extensive professional development to support students in a Shared Resource Program with students with non-verbal communication.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provide before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Standard First Aid; to be provided within 3 months of the first day of employment
- Completion of the Education Assistant YG Learn course
