Please Note: The assignment in July may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position. Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 27, 2025, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement (Article B.29). By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators
- successful experience in teaching Summer Learning courses is an asset
- currently providing direct instruction and support to Middle School or Secondary students in the required assignment area
- demonstrated ability to implement project-based learning within the classroom
- proven ability to plan and organize field experiences that support project-based learning
- ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices in order to measure and monitor student progress effectively
- understanding of and the ability to implement the Big Ideas based upon the Core Competencies for the assigned area
- training and successful experience in teaching students with social, emotional, and behavioural challenges
- provide regular reporting on student progress and demonstrate proven ability in involving parents as partners
- ability to work as part of a team
- demonstrated strong classroom management skills
- demonstrated the ability to motivate and engage at-risk students
- willingness to provide recommendations to schools about student achievement at the end of the course
