Job description
The support worker will provide support to detox and rehab residents (family and individuals) in the performance of their activities. The support worker will work alongside health care professionals, addictions counselors and other support workers.
Reports to: Primary Counselor (Family and Recovery)
Duties and responsibilities
· Collaborate with nursing staff and addictions counsellors to deliver treatment plans and mentoring activities
· Support the delivery of instructional, educational and recovery activities (family and individual rehab)
· Produce case notes and related documentation
· Observe residents/children for any behavioral change and keep staff informed.
· Collaborate with residents/children to develop a resident -centered and strength-based recovery plan
· Provide companionship and engage in meaningful activities with residents/children
· Perform light housekeeping and administrative tasks
· Provide support to counsellors in various activities
· Follow the rules, policies and regulations of the Detox Centre of Manitoba
Requirements and qualifications
· Minimum grade 12 diploma/degree
· Experience in addictions recovery would be an asset
· Respectful of cultural diversity
· Organized, resourceful and able to follow a schedule
· Ability to communicate effectively
· Ability to work independently and multitask
· Client-oriented and friendly
· Time management skill
· Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs
· First Aid/CPR would be an asset
· Having a valid class 5 Manitoba Driver’s license would be an asset
· Successful applicants will be subject to provide a Police Record Check/Police Vulnerable Sector Check (Winnipeg Police Service)
