Your Opportunity
An opportunity exists in our Vancouver office for an intermediate level Structural Field Services Representative to become part of a dynamic group providing professional services to our clients in the Buildings sector. This role will report to the Construction Administration (CA) team lead and will work collaboratively with the multi-discipline CA team.
The ideal candidate will have a principal understanding of structural engineering concepts and systems and a broad understanding of other buildings' systems i.e. mechanical, electrical and architectural.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform day-to-day Field Services tasks on behalf of design professionals to ensure that projects are constructed in compliance with the design, budget, and schedule.
Coordinate design professionals with subconsultants, clients, contractors, authorities, field staff, utility companies, public agencies, and general public.
Coordinate with project design teams to complete construction-related design-phase review including constructability, cost, and construction sequencing and scheduling.
Manage construction administration related processes and document controls through Tender, Construction and Post-Construction services.
Coordinate with design disciplines to complete delegated professional services during construction phase including coordination and scheduling of field review and reports, and processing of RFIs, site instructions, change orders, shop drawings, submittals, progress claims, deficiency lists, commissioning participation, closeout documentation, warranty period documentation.
Review structural shop drawings and submittals for consistency with design intent, building code compliance, and constructability, and coordinate reviews with the structural design team.
Conduct regular structural field reviews to verify conformity with structural drawings and specifications, with a focus on critical elements such as foundations, lateral systems, transfer elements, seismic detailing, and structural interfaces.
Document structural field observations, identify non-conformances, and issue formal reports and recommendations for corrective action.
Participate in internal project close-out activities and providing construction-phase lessons learned.
Review and track structural change orders, contractor proposed substitutions, and cost impacts related to structural systems.
Build and maintain productive relationships with construction company partners.
Understand and comply with regulations governing design professionals in the jurisdiction of the project.
Lead internal continuing education sessions for Stantec Buildings staff on Construction Administration best practices.
Contribute to a “safety first" work environment in compliance with Stantec’s health, safety, security and environmental policies and procedures.
Manage quality control and quality assurance processes for Construction Administration Team tasks.
This role will require a minimum of 50% time in the field and will require travel across British Columbia and Alberta.

Experience in various project delivery methods including Design Build, IPD and Alliance.
Effective negotiating skills and demonstrated leadership in conflict resolution.
Education and Experience
Professional work experience within the construction industry (including project manager, site superintendent, field services representative, contractor) may be considered.
Minimum of 10 years related experience in onsite construction field services.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range:
- Locations Outside of Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 79,700.00 - Max Salary $ 115,500.00
- Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 84,500.00 - Max Salary $ 122,400.00
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
