Job Title: Specialized Programs Animator (SPA) – Programs Support & Interventions
This position requires the SPA to be on-site, in person, to provide direct support to the programs team and members. The regular work schedule is Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, based on program needs.

BGC Dawson is seeking a compassionate and creative Specialized Programs Animator (SPA) to support both Children and Youth Programs through meaningful programming and interventions. The SPA works closely with program coordinators, staff, and members to ensure programming is engaging, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of participants. This role emphasizes supportive interventions, relationship-building, and child/youth development.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, animate, and evaluate specialized activities and outreach programs
- Participate in activities and outings with children and youth
- Open and close building spaces, manage program keys, and support general safety protocols
- Attend team trainings and meetings, and provide back-up support when staff are absent
- Accurately complete and submit all required forms (incident reports, attendance, etc.)
- Provide ongoing support to children and youth through interventions and relationship-building
- Contribute to a safe, welcoming, and inclusive program environment
- Stay current with best practices in child and youth development
- Assist with conflict resolution and promote positive peer relationships
- Collaborate with program staff to deliver engaging online and in-person programming
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary studies in a related field (Social Services, Social Work, Human Relations, etc.)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and/or youth
- Specialized training or experience in interventions, ECE, or child/youth development
- Minimum age of 20 years
- Bilingual in English and French
- First Aid/CPR certification (asset or willing to obtain)
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Strong communication, planning, and teamwork skills
