The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a Specialist, APIM & Middleware to join our Information Technology team in Toronto/Mississauga/Sudbury.
This is a permanent Onsite position.
As a Specialist, APIM & Middleware, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the APIM, middleware and cloud PaaS components within VBM’s Foundation Application portfolio. This role is highly technical, and specialist role focuses on ensuring the seamless integration of various systems and applications, enhancing the overall efficiency and performance of the IT platforms. Your experience and skill will allow you to work closely with the Supervisor of Foundation Applications and other cross-functional teams to implement effective, sustainable, and cyber-resilient solutions.
Additionally, in this position you will:
- Develop and implement strategies for API management, middleware integration and cloud PaaS services and resources to ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of foundational systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy API management, middleware and cloud PaaS solutions that align with business requirements and IT standards.
- Implement modern software engineering and development best practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) methodologies.
- Manage Azure DevOps for version control, build automation, and release management to ensure efficient and reliable software delivery.
- Work closely with the Supervisor of Foundation Applications to oversee a managed services (third-party) responsible for the day-to-day support of API and middleware components.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers and vendors, ensuring service delivery and budget compliance.
About You
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certification(s) in Middleware and APIM technologies preferred
Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in integrations, middleware, and APIM.
- 3+ years of experience in an IT Team Lead capacity.
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in IT technology, tools, skills, techniques, and methods, including microservices architecture.
- Hands-on experience integrating technologies, data sources, and systems, including applications and databases.
- Knowledge and experience in working with (both defining and building) APIs.
- Analytical and interpretative reasoning skills to assess client needs and develop cost-effective and efficient IT solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
- SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services): Experience in designing, developing, and deploying SSIS packages for data integration, transformation, and migration tasks. Proficiency in installing, configuring, administering, and using SSIS tools and components to automate data workflows and ensure data quality.
- Tibco: Hands-on experience with Tibco middleware products. Ability to design, implement, install, configure, administer, and monitor integration solutions using Tibco tools to facilitate seamless communication between different systems and applications.
- Qlik: Proficiency in Qlik tools for data integration as well as installing, configuring, administering, and monitoring Qlik tools to provide actionable insights and support decision-making processes.
- Azure PaaS technologies: Strong knowledge and experience building systems and applications using Azure PaaS services and resources.
- Azure Integration Technologies: Strong knowledge and experience in Azure integration services such as Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, and Azure API Management. Experience in designing, implementing, installing, configuring, administering, and monitoring cloud-based integration solutions using Azure technologies to enhance scalability, reliability, and performance.
- ADF (Azure Data Factory): Proficiency in using Azure Data Factory for orchestrating and automating data movement and transformation. Experience in creating and managing data pipelines, integrating various data sources, and ensuring data consistency and reliability, as well as installing, configuring, administering, and monitoring ADF.
- MQTT (including but not limited to Red Hat AMQ): Experience with MQTT protocol for lightweight, publish-subscribe network communication. Proficiency in using Red Hat AMQ for messaging and integration, ensuring reliable and scalable communication between various systems and applications, as well as installing, configuring, administering, and monitoring MQTT solutions.
