Position Summary
The Social Worker functions as a member of the Mental Health Interdisciplinary Team and as such is involved with cases of a complex clinical nature and is responsible for: assessing and evaluating the psychosocial and emotional factors salient to assigned cases; developing treatment plans; providing group and individual counselling/therapy; providing crisis intervention; providing follow-up counselling; participating in team conferences, staff meetings and professional development activities; maintaining appropriate case records; program statistics; participating in the planning and evaluation of the MH program and performing other duties as required.
The Mental Health program is currently seeking a Permanent Part-time Social Worker.

Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) from an Accredited University School of Social
- Member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW) in good standing
- BCLS certification
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification
- Knowledgeable of the Principles of Psychosocial Rehabilitation
- Two (2) to three (3) years' experience related psychiatric experience required in an inpatient and/or outpatient setting
- Two (2) years' experience in facilitating therapy teaching and support groups
- Knowledge of community resources and referral protocols and positive relations with external agencies
- Experience in individual and family therapy required
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and team building skills
- Experience in crisis intervention
- Comprehensive psychosocial assessment skills
- Sound knowledge of psychopharmacological medications
- Familiarity with medical and community-based models of care
- Experience with Electronic Documentation Standard
- Concurrent Capable
- Understanding and practice of Infection Control procedures
- Experience in Motivational Interviewing
- Must be able to fulfill the physical requirements of the job, as per the current Physical Demands Analysis
Hours of Work
Must be able to work day eight hour day shifts Monday through Friday. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the OPSEU Collective Agreement.
