Our Manufacturing Team, based in Whitby ON is seeking a Smokehouse/Drying Operator with strong food processing experience to join our manufacturing team and help us continue to create Canada’s best tasting meat snacks! This position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of smokehouses and drying rooms and delivering 4P’s of Performance, Perfect Product, Champion People while ensuring a culture of health and safety.

Shift:
- Weekdays- 10 hours rotation shifts between morning and evening shift.

Key Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operator to join our team in the dry snacks processing industry. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient operation, with a focus on preparing the meat for packaging. This position requires a strong understanding of food safety standards, meat drying and mechanical knowledge to maintain equipment and ensure high-quality output.
Drive Performance KPIs
- Operate and monitor the smokehouse and drying room equipment to ensure optimal processing of meat products.
- Achieve daily and weekly production schedules
- Coordinate with other departments (such as maintenance, processing, packaging, and quality control) to troubleshoot and resolve any equipment or production issues and ensure a smooth workflow.
- Report any major production or equipment issues to supervisors / management and suggest process improvements.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of smokehouse and drying room equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Work closely with the production team to meet daily production goals and maintain high product quality standards.
- Assist with troubleshooting equipment issues and collaborate with maintenance staff for repairs as needed.
Perfect Product Every Time
- Monitor the smoking and drying processes to achieve the desired product characteristics and quality.
- Maintain accurate records of processing parameters, including temperature logs, water activity measurements, and production outputs.
- Monitors safe food production to ensure Health & Safety, HACCP and GMP procedures are met.
- Conduct regular checks of Critical Control Points (CCPs), including water activity levels and cooking temperatures, to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
- Follow all safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Champion People
- Promote a positive team environment and address any personnel issues promptly and professionally.
- Train and mentor team members on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), machine operation, and safety protocols
- Ensure all team members are following safety protocols, maintaining a clean workspace, and adhering to company policies.
Other
- Be trained in other areas and roles to be able to act as a backup as required
- Other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring
- 3+ years working in a HACCP approved food or beverage manufacturing facility
- Experience in the food processing or meat drying industry is highly desirable.
- Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot and maintain production equipment effectively.
- Understanding food safety regulations and best practices in sanitation.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills: giving and receiving information, including listening, speaking, observing, and empathizing
- Responsible and result oriented
- Must be able to work collaboratively in a team
- Completion of high school or equivalent
- Must be able to read and write in English and fill out relevant work documents
- Available to work any day and any shift of the week, and some weekends to meet business requirements

Pay: $19.50-$24.00 per hour
